Additional information: The illustration depicts a sentry visited by the ghosts of soldiers killed during the First World War. It was published as an advertisement in Ken magazine, urging readers to support ‘World Peaceways’, an anti-war organization. Ken magazine, a short-lived publication from 1938-1939, was heavily illustrated and focused on denouncing the increasing belligerence of world powers while advocating for the abolition of war.
