In peace we serve to prevent war (American poster, 1962)

Text: In peace we serve to prevent war – “That this nation shall not perish…”

Year: 1962.

Publisher: U.S. Government Printing Office.

Artist: NA.

Additional information: The poster depicts a soldier standing against a map of the world with communist regions shaded red. It was issued for distribution to military bases and for recruitment ads (see example below from The Plattsmouth Journal, 12 July, 1962). The soldier is presumably meant to look like one of the ‘soldiers of the future’ that appeared in some other US Army publications around the same time (second image is from The Army Reservist magazine, October 1959).
