Greek poster, ca. 1973-74

Text: We know who’s guilty and the cause is known.

Year: ca. 1973-1974.

Publisher: NA.

Artist: Georgios Farsakidis.

Additional information: One of a series by Farsakidis, the poster shows the hand of the CIA directing the NATO tank as it drives over the Greek flag, with a destroyed column to the left and blood flowing to the right. Published in the wake of the 1973 Athens Polytechnic uprising, when students went on strike and barricaded themselves inside the university in protest of the ruling (allegedly CIA-backed) junta. The protest was ended after a tank rolled into the university. The text on the poster quotes communist poet Fotis Angoules.
