Additional information: Depicts George Pullman, founder of the Pullman Company, squeezing a worker with ‘low wages’ and ‘high rent’. Published during the Pullman Strike, a significant labour strike triggered by wage cuts and layoffs at the Pullman Company. The strike spread with sympathy strikers joining, leading to the intervention of troops and marshals and subsequent arrests of strike leaders.
