Additional information: Poster shows Uncle Sam marching arm in arm with a Russian soldier, with their countries’ populations written on their chests and their sizes depicted behind them. Originally published in the US by the United Cigar Stores Company, the country’s largest cigar chain and a surprisingly prolific publisher of posters during the war. The poster was reprinted in Russia in Niva, a popular magazine, to illustrate an article praising the US for its support both for the February Revolution and for the Allied war effort.
