How to avoid Spanish influenza (British cartoon, 1918)

Text: How to avoid Spanish influenza. The expert say in effect: “Don’t talk to anyone, don’t go near anyone, and you are safe!” No doubt. But is not this a little difficult;

Year: 1918.

Publisher: Daily Mirror newspaper.

Artist: W. K. Haselden.

Additional information: Cartoon pokes fun at the confusing rules and advice given by “the expert” on avoiding the Spanish influenza. To the left of the cartoon a man tries and fails to follow the expert guidance, while to the right of the cartoon Haselden presents “the only solution”, which is to shelter inside a tower reaching into the clouds.
