Additional information: Published ahead of the 1932 election, the poster shows Ernest Blythe, Finance Minister of the incumbent Cumann na Gaelhael government, spurning a poor family labelled ‘the masses’ while handing a money sack to ‘the classes’. To the poor family he says ‘I have nothing for you, my good woman, the country can’t afford it!’ while to to the rich man he says ‘this is to help you rear your family, my poor man’.
