Additional information: Drawn by Belgian artist Gisbert Combaz, a prominent and prolific illustrator during the war who produced many posters, postcards, newspaper cartoons and more. This illustration refers to the torpedoing of the Lusitania off the coast of Ireland on 7 May 1915, which killed 1,198 passengers and crew and sparked anti-German outrage in the US.
