Additional information: Swiss illustration published during the Winter War showing Finnish soldiers defending a column reading ‘Freedom’. It was published on the cover of Nebelspalter magazine during the Winter War, when the Finnish resistance to the Soviet invasion was being widely celebrated in the western press.
